It is a highly competitive youth soccer league for the best District wide teams in the BC Lower Mainland.
The regular schedule runs from the first weekend after Labour Day through to approximately early-March. The League schedules games on Sunday, but make up games can be played on any day of the week.
The Metro Select League was the amalgamation of the Girls Metro League and the Boys Select League in 2011. The goal was to form a stronger and most competitive soccer league for boys and girls in the Lower Mainland.
Metro soccer is the highest calibre soccer being played at our youth club level. Players that are interested in wanting to play Metro will be required to attend an open tryout. Tryouts can range from 1 to 3 days in duration dependent on the amount of players trying out. Tryouts are open to both players within the NSGSC Club and outside. Anyone interested in participating must register with the North Shore Girls Soccer Club and pay both the registration fee and tryout fee. Only the registration fee is refundable should you not make a Metro team and if you do not want to continue to play Select soccer with the North Shore Girls Soccer Club.
Yes, all players are expected to be committed to the Metro program and attend as many of the training sessions and games as possible. If you are unable to make such a commitment then the Gold 1 level might be the best other option.
Respect for one's teammates, coaches, referee's and opponents are to be expected from all players. A positive and supportive attitude is the NSGSC's way of competing.
The Metro Select League consists of teams from all over the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. It is highly likely that you will be playing teams from these areas so expect to do some driving. Every Metro team will participate is the 'Labour Day Tournament' in Coquitlam as the starting point of the season.
The fee's associated with the Metro Program is higher than that of the Select Program. The fee's are associated with securing training time on turf fields and receiving quality coaching as the player's continue to develop.
