COE - Centre of Excellence

The NSGSC 2020-21 Centre of Excellence Program (COE/BCSPL)

NSGSC is delighted to announce that we have currently aligned ourselves with NVFC to host their BCSPL U13 Intake team every season going forward, starting the 2021-22 season. This program is for our current U9 to U12 players and is an invitation-only initiative. The program is designed to assist players that are focused on developing the skillset and game awareness to play at the next level. Therefore the Centre of Excellence will be the club's pathway to the high-performance environments currently offered at the club.

  • NSGSC/NVFC BCSPL U13 Intake Team

  • NSGSC U13 Metro

Added to which, we will be running a U13 to U18 Program for Metro Players which is catered to those that still aspire to play or wish to maintain playing at the higher levels in BC.

  • BC Soccer Provincial Program

  • BC Soccer Premier League

  • NSGSC Metro

The sessions will be based on the basic principles of the game. The players will be working with like-minded players in an environment that will be challenging, intense and fun. There will be lots of repetition of each stage of the game so players eventually do things naturally rather than being constantly reminded of what to do. These principles will apply to any level the players attain in their careers.

The expectation from the Club’s view is that the selected players will be committed to attending every session. This program is not to be considered a “drop-in” environment. Each session will be run by the top qualified coaches within our Club. The expectation required from the players will be their attitude is positive, brave, focused and willing to listen and learn. Our highly trained coaching staff will do everything to provide an exciting, fun and development minded culture.

If applicable, and dependant on COVID-19 restrictions, (see current safety protocols) there may be the possibility of the COE players having games/tournaments against other Academy/COE environments within the lower mainland (Surrey United, Coquitlam Metro Ford, Coastal FC etc.)

Opportunities such as Showcase tournaments may be possible for our older groups (U13 to U18).

The players will be assessed via a combination of:

  • Observations and assessments during previous club development programming

  • Observations and assessments during previous and current regular practice sessions/games

  • Technical staff knowledge and observations of all age group players

The breakdown of the COE is as follows:

  • Start Date Saturday, September 26th

  • 11 sessions in the Fall, 9 in Winter, 10 in 10 Spring (30 total)

  • The Cost is $750/player and can be paid in full or broken into 3 installments - Fall $275, Winter $225, Spring $300

Unfortunately due to current social distancing guidelines, we can only populate the Indoor Facility with a certain amount of individuals so for this to work safely we will not be able to accommodate parents during the sessions.

ALL sessions will be organized to adhere to current BC Soccer/Via Sport guidelines.

Program Highlights:

  • 30 weeks consisting of 1 weekly session or game on Saturdays (Sept to Dec, Jan to Mar and April to June).

  • Professional NSGSC technical staff led environment.

  • All sessions indoor out of the elements. Some games may be on turf.

  • Possible entry into tournaments in 2021 if current restrictions on returning to play are lifted. An extra cost will be attached to these opportunities.

The players, parents, and/or coaches will be notified of the offer to join the COE. We are looking for players that show a terrific attitude and are wanting to challenge themselves to improve.

The selection process will involve discussions with the paid technical staff as well as the respective team coaches. There may be the occasion where a player is not selected and she plays on the “top team”. Just because someone is playing at the top level as an example does not give them automatic selection for the COE. Attitude/commitment will be massive factors in the selection. The selection of players will be at the sole discretion of the technical staff.
