North Shore Girls Soccer Club appoints new Executive Director.

North Vancouver, BC:  September 22, 2020:  For Immediate Release

North Shore Girls Soccer Club is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Jana Madill to the new full-time (interim) leadership role of Executive Director, effective September 1, 2020.   Jana has over a decade of service with the Club, serving as AGC, in various Director roles and most recently as the Club’s Treasurer.

“During these very uncertain times due to the pandemic, where community organizations are faced with rapidly changing information, programming cut-backs and anxious members, there is no better person to lead NSGSC than Jana”, said Dean Crawford, President of the Board.  Jana is a proven leader with business, operations and financial acumen and the ability to navigate challenges to move programs and people forward.  “Our decision to hire an Executive Director follows recommendations received in 2019 from Capitis Consulting, a well-known consulting firm with a focus on amateur sports organizations across Canada”, Crawford added.

In addition to her volunteer contributions to NSGSC, Jana was most recently the General Manager of a national sponsorship marketing agency and is excited to also bring marketing and revenue generation strategies to NSGSC to support long-term growth.  Jana has worked in business, marketing and communications and also served our North Shore community in various roles for over 20 years.  She has been a promoter of youth sport and especially of the benefit of sport for girls in developing life and leadership skills.  Jana lives in North Vancouver with her husband and two teenagers, her daughter plays for NSGSC, and they all love participating in outdoor activities and sports.

During the off-season, NSGSC made additional changes to the staff structure.  Maggie Murch, previously Business Operations Manager, resigned her role to spend more time with her family.  Maggie will continue to support NSGSC on special projects.  They also said good-bye to long-time coach Andrew White.  Andrew and his family relocated to Princeton this summer.  As such the full-time staff have been restructured to provide the NSGSC membership with adequate player, coach, parent and volunteer support:

Colin Miller, Director of Player and Coach Development, will focus on-field with the U12-18 players and coaches. Colin will also lend his tremendous coaching experience into the Centre of Excellence to lead all of the COE, Development, Metro and Premier League programs.

Lee-Ann Denham, Director of League Soccer U6-12, will continue to add her enthusiasm and best in class coaching direction to the Pee Wee players and coaches.  She will also assume new responsibilities for the Soccer 4 Everyone program and the Minis (U4/5).  Continue to look for Lee-Ann leading Camps and our Junior Coaches.

Greg Berry, Director of Soccer Operations, will oversee Technical Service and Operations of all soccer programs.  In this role, Greg will be responsible for tactical and technical deliverables for youth league and COE and ensure NSGSC programs are delivering opportunities for player development and growth following the LTPD pathways.  He will continue to support both Colin and Lee-Ann on-field and oversee all part-time and hourly coaches.

Margo Smith-Kavanagh will continue as the Club Administrator but also add the role of Volunteer Manager to her portfolio.  Margo’s extensive knowledge of Club operations and her tenure with the Club make her a perfect fit to add more structure and opportunities for volunteers.

Tina Homsy-Williams will continue as Registrar and Communications Manager, supporting the entire membership with timely updates through our website, social channels and direct to inboxes.  Tina’s vital role supporting all players with registration makes her the first point of contact for most of the NSGSC membership.

Dave Reemeyer moves onto the staff team as part-time Staff Accountant and Bookkeeper.  Dave has been serving NSGSC for over 12 years in a variety of volunteer coaching and Board roles.  He has brought his professional financial experience to the Club for the last few years as a contractor and NSGSC is delighted to transition Dave to the staff team.
