Whilst all the development areas are very important to being a soccer player, it is the “TECHNICAL” block that is the most vital. It is key to not just playing the game but impacting the game.

The NSGSC Development Centre is the first step in the club’s development pathway that is open to anyone interested in improving their game U6 – U18. The primary focus is to help improve players' individual techniques, gain confidence in key decision making and foster the love of the game in a fun friendly, and challenging environment. Groupings of training will be adjusted to challenge players across the four-corner development model.

The NSGSC Development Centre programs all take place (unless otherwise noted) in our own Indoor Facility (NSGIF).  The facility provides a safe, climate-controlled environment where players can focus on building their skills, not the weather!  The NSGIF is a spectator-free facility and all programs are lead by our professional coaching staff.

Advanced Development Centre

The NSGSC Advanced development centre program focuses on developing players and coaches for advancement to higher levels through a challenging and high temp training environment. The Club Technical staff will implement a structured needs based technical training program for these age groups and levels. As the need for technical proficiency continues, players of these age groups and levels will participate in a Technical Development program with players from BCSPL and Metro level.

The advanced development centre aims to successfully combine coaching excellence, and a mutual desire to unearth the limitless potential in each of our young players. We strive to create an elusive balance between the coaching of high-level soccer skills, techniques, and tactics with the quest to instill a sense of professionalism, leadership, and confidence in all our participants.

This Program is INVITE ONLY for BCSPL and Metro Players

By allowing the professional staff to support every player/coach in these ages, it ensures that everyone receives a consistent coach and player development seasonal plan.

Players will undergo constant assessment during their season by their team coaches. Players identified as having the potential to play in the club NSGSC Prospects program will be recommended to the club staff. Thereafter, players will be invited for further assessment within the NSGSC Prospects program training sessions. In addition to ongoing assessments, the Club will also hold post-season identification camps off-season (U10) to be sure players are placed in the environment that best suits their developmental needs at U11.

U11 - U16 : “Identifying the Elite Player”

At this stage of development, high performance groups such as Professional, National, Provincial, and Premier Clubs look to recruit or scout talented youth players. All parties must be sensitive to recognizing and protecting the long-term interest of the players. In this stage, it is crucial to have models in place that are “Player Centered”. As young adults, this age group develops by using more demanding skill and physical training loads, and players must learn to be mentally strong, committed, and tactically aware.

This stage focuses on identifying and developing players and coaches for advancement to higher levels. The Club Technical staff will implement a structured needs based technical training program for these age groups and levels. As the need for technical proficiency continues, players of these age groups and levels will participate in a Technical Development program with a minimum 2:1 (BCSPL/Metro/Div 1 and Div 2) or 1:1 (Div 3) training ratio for technical/tactical practice sessions. This methodology ensures the developmental priorities of the players technical and tactical needs are being met. The training for this program includes dribbling, turning, passing & receiving, and shooting

  • Optimizing in Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) and nutrition
