60+ Walking Soccer

Introducing the perfect way to get some exercise in, make some new friends, and enjoy all the fun that soccer has to offer. Our NEW 60+ Active Seniors Program is a way to support and involve our senior community with a low-impact, walking version, of soccer! Walking soccer is a great alternative for individuals who are unable to play the game in its traditional format and for those who are looking to try something new and fun. The game is a non-competitive, non-contact, self-refereed version of soccer, where participants walk instead of run, play with smaller-sized nets, and must keep the ball below knee height at all times. The program will include 10 minutes of development warm-up exercises, 20 minutes of technical skill (passing, dribbling, shooting), a 15-minute small-sided game, and will finish off with 5 minutes of recovery exercises.

Walking Soccer has been positively impacting the lives of our Seniors Community and has gained popularity not only for all the fun and excitement it creates but also for its incredible health benefits. Professional Medical Experts state that participating in walking soccer can help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, have positive changes in balance, blood pressure, and resting heart rate, lowered cholesterol, improved blood sugar levels, bone density, reaction rates and drastically reduces the odds of type 2 diabetes.

With age, many people start suffering from balance, strength, stamina, weight, and overall lack of self-confidence. Walking soccer has been proven to be of significant support in these areas through building body strength, improving muscle movements, increasing core stability, and improving overall mental health. Walking soccer provides you with a fun new way to get your body moving which will in turn promote all kinds of changes in the brain, including neural growth, reduced inflammation, new activity patterns that promote feelings of calm and well-being, and release endorphins, powerful chemicals in your brain that energize your spirits and make you feel good. These health benefits reduce the effects of the cognitive and physical decline associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, specifically the postural and motor functions of Alzheimer’s patients.

The Seniors joining our Walking Soccer Program should be excited to expand their friend circles, create a positive relationship with exercise, and partake in some friendly camaraderie, all through having FUN playing some soccer.
