Each year NSGSC recognizes our U18 players who have made a positive impact on the club, school teams, and the community through demonstrating a high level of leadership and commitment. We would like to thank these players for their hard work and dedication by offering the opportunity to apply for our following scholarships.
North Shore Girls Soccer Club Scholarship Winners
NSGSC YOUTH: LEADERSHIP AND ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP
NSGSC recognizes the players who have made a positive impact on their club or school teams and demonstrated leadership qualities and a commitment to improve their team experience, above and beyond expectation, while they are in our Club.
Recipient #1: Ariana Brezai
Ariana Brezai is a determined and empathetic leader who leads by example, driven by her belief in the potential of others and the power of community. Whether stepping up to save her school’s philanthropy club or mentoring young players through the NSGSC Junior Coaching program, Ariana consistently shows initiative and resilience. Her leadership shines through her unwavering support for teammates, her ability to guide others through self-doubt, and her strength in navigating conflict with confidence and care. Ariana’s dedication to growth—both her own and others’—has prepared her to pursue Engineering with the same passion and perseverance that defines her leadership journey.
Recipient #2: Claire McJannet
Claire McJannet is a compassionate and dependable leader who leads through action, empathy, and strong communication. She understands that leadership isn’t about titles but about creating trust and supporting others whether by stepping up in team settings or helping resolve conflicts with care. Known as someone teammates can count on, Claire fosters unity and confidence in those around her.
She plans to carry these leadership skills into her future at UVic and beyond, aiming to make a meaningful impact in business and in life.


RENEGADES: EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Thank you to the 2005 Renegades who made a 3-year endowment to our club and will be offering a scholarship of $500 to one of the graduating 2006 Metro Renegades players. This is the second year of this 3-year scholarship. This scholarship will be given to a player who demonstrates excellence both on and off the field, and has demonstrated a commitment to the game for fun, friendships and fitness.
Recipient: Samantha Mulligan
This year’s recipient, Samantha Mulligan, has been a proud member of the NSGSC since childhood and a dedicated Renegade for the past five years. Throughout her time on the team, Samantha has grown into a confident, committed, and inspiring teammate who embodies the values of the Renegades both on and off the field. Her leadership extends far beyond soccer—she’s coached young players through the Whitecaps Academy, Celtic Academy, and NSGSC programs, and has also taken on roles as a camp counselor, referee, and basketball coach. Whether she’s leading a futsal tournament or mentoring younger athletes, Samantha’s dedication to her community, her sport, and her personal growth shines through.
This fall, Samantha will be attending Queen’s University to study Kinesiology, ready to bring her passion, perseverance, and commitment to this next chapter.

NSGSC YOUTH: STAY IN THE GAME - WOMEN IN SPORT SCHOLARSHIP
NSGSC would like to support girls and women in the pursuits of their athletic and educational goals related to health and sport. NSGSC acknowledges the importance of seeing more female leaders in Sport and Health related fields and would like to assist them in reaching their career goals.
Recipient #1: Ruby May
Ruby May is a passionate and resilient leader who has grown through sport and now uses her experiences to uplift others in the athletic community. As a longtime NSGSC player and three-year co-captain, Ruby leads with empathy, determination, and a deep commitment to creating inclusive and empowering spaces for female athletes. She’s actively supported younger players through mentorship and school programs, all while managing teams and promoting mental and physical wellness in sport. Her personal journey overcoming an eating disorder has shaped her drive to pursue a career in pediatric sports medicine, where she hopes to help others find strength in movement as she once did.
Ruby will be studying Kinesiology this fall with the goal of continuing to advocate for the health, confidence, and success of athletes of all ages.
Recipient #2: Sophie Chen
Sophie Chen is a thoughtful and compassionate leader whose twelve-year journey in soccer has shaped her both on and off the field. Through the game, she has discovered the value of teamwork, community, and emotional resilience—lessons that extend far beyond sport. Inspired by her coach’s dedication to mentorship, Sophie has embraced leadership roles herself, supporting younger players as a junior coach and role model. She believes that connection and support are essential, not only for team success but for personal growth.
Sophie plans to study Nursing this fall, bringing with her the same empathy, teamwork, and drive that have defined her soccer journey, and hopes to make a difference in others’ lives through care, compassion, and leadership.


DEB BRAMLEY - COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS SCHOLARSHIP
The Deb Bramely scholarship will recognize a player who is highly involved in making a positive impact on our community. Players who receive this award have shown remarkable community service and volunteer hours with a passion to give back to the community and their peers.
Recipient #1: Jenna Watson
Jenna Watson has been a dedicated NSGSC player since the age of five and has grown into a compassionate leader whose impact extends far beyond the soccer field. Whether coaching young players through Parkgate Society or helping individuals with disabilities learn to ski with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports (VASS), Jenna leads with empathy, creativity, and unwavering commitment. Her ability to adapt in challenging situations—like calming a distressed child during soccer practice or supporting a non-verbal skier down the mountain—speaks to her deep sense of responsibility and compassion. Jenna’s experiences have shaped her into a thoughtful and energetic role model, inspiring those around her through positivity and care.
This fall, Jenna will be attending UBC to study Commerce, with long-term goals of creating her own organization to support individuals with disabilities, a reflection of her passion for building inclusive communities and creating meaningful change.
Recipient #2: Ruby Coleman
Ruby Coleman has been a dedicated member of NSGSC since childhood and continues to embody the club’s values of leadership, community, and inclusivity. Over the years, Ruby has taken on a range of meaningful volunteer roles that reflect her deep commitment to making a difference—whether coaching young players at NSGSC, supporting athletes through the Vancouver Jr. Eclipse Blind Hockey Program, or contributing as Treasurer of her school’s Interact Club. Through these experiences, Ruby has developed a strong foundation in communication, empathy, and collaboration, always striving to uplift others and promote accessible, inclusive spaces.
This fall, Ruby will begin her studies at UBC, where she plans to stay actively involved in her volunteer communities and contribute to campus life through clubs and service opportunities. With her passion for giving back and a clear vision for positive change, Ruby is poised to make a lasting impact wherever she goes.


NSGSC WOMEN'S PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a player who demonstrates leadership qualities as a member of her soccer team or post-secondary institution/trade/school/certificate program.
Recipient: Jade Watson
Jade Watson’s journey with soccer has come full circle, from six years on a competitive NSGSC Metro team to playing in the North Shore Women’s League while pursuing her Kinesiology degree at UBC. Even as she recovers from a concussion sustained this past season, Jade’s love for the game remains strong, valuing it as a source of fitness, connection, and personal growth. Off the field, Jade demonstrates exceptional leadership and compassion through her long-standing volunteer work. From supporting residents at Berkley Care Centre in rehabilitation and art therapy, to teaching individuals with disabilities how to ski through Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports, she leads with empathy, patience, and purpose. Jade has also stepped up in her academic community, contributing to UBC’s Kinesiology Undergraduate Society and running for a leadership role to deepen her involvement.
With a passion for helping others and a clear path ahead, Jade plans to pursue a Master’s in Physiotherapy, continuing her commitment to improving lives through movement, care, and inclusion.
